Frequently Asked Questions

How do you Pronounce Fidock?

Fidock is pronounced – F – eye – dock

Can I custom order?

In order to keep our snares at an affordable price, we make a run of a particular range of 20 to 30 snares at a time. For this reason we are concentrating on 14 “snare drums of 6.5” or 5” depth only at this stage.

However, we will consider making you any drum, including snare drums, by special order and we are happy to provide quotes for custom orders. Please be aware that pricing will be affected.

How long will it take to receive my drum?

Once we have received your order, we will contact you and advise when you can expect to receive your drum. If we are out of stock, please allow up to 8 to 12 weeks for shipment.

What type of finish do you provide?

As a rule, we will only use a satin finish for our drums. First and foremost we have chosen to do so in order to minimise interference with the acoustic properties of the grain in the finishing process and secondly, to lower costs.

Caring for your Fidock Wood Hoops

Whilst our hoops are strong, you might like to take a little extra care with them. We would recommend that you loosen the tension when the drum is at rest for extended periods.

Any tuning hints?

Fidock snares are comfortable with a wide tuning range, the wood hoops will accommodate high tension. We recommend the Evans Torque key for fast and consistent even tuning.

If you are using a Drumdial tuner please refer to the suggested gauge readings, in particular with regards to the resonant head. We suggest anywhere between 70 and 85.
